MICHAEL MARQUEZ ARCHITECTS

Recently, the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority House at UCLA,
completed the first phase of a beautiful restoration project
of their ground floor living spaces. Then earlier this year,
they invited MMA to assist them with an enormous remodel
of the second floor bedroom and bathroom areas. The
existing Sorority House is over 100 years old and it’s been
over 50 years since the last substantial remodel.
The original bathrooms on the second floor were completed
gutted. We also reconfigured the layout of the bedrooms to
improve the efficiency and to provide additional privacy for
the ladies. The improved efficiency provided desperately
needed closet space and much needed square footage for
the bathroom areas. The design work has been completed
and the construction is slated for the Summer of 2010. The
capital campaign is underway and being spearheaded by the
fabulous Alumni Director, Joy LeCompte, Class of ’57.
The project presented many of the usual challenges and
some less anticipated, least of which was, Michael Marquez is
a graduate of the USC and had several concerns about
working with a Sorority at UCLA? Could the two co-exist?
However, as a sophomore at USC, Mr. Marquez was
bestowed the wonderful compliment of being elected an
ADPi Big Brother. Hence, destiny has been served, the circle
is complete and the honor is all ours.
