MICHAEL MARQUEZ ARCHITECTS

Located in the heart of West Hollywood, California, this new
house - our second project with Doug Chapin - was designed
with a modern flare yet a very "at home" feel through the
use of color and texture. The existing house was relocated
while keeping a detached garage that was converted to a
media room with direct access to the pool area.
The house is just half a block south of Santa Monica
Boulevard and needed to provide privacy from the heavily
traveled street. A series of perforated walls with opaque
glass was utilized for the front elevation. Inside, a two-story
volume Living Room and stairwell with full height glass to
the south and clerestory windows, invigorate the main floor
as you enter the house.
The back of the house is terminated with full-height glass to
allow the visual exploration of the pool and jacuzzi areas as
well as the beautiful landscape design of Betty Jo McDonald.
