MICHAEL MARQUEZ ARCHITECTS

This 3,800 SF custom residence for a predominate Newport
Beach developer and his wife, commands a dynamic
presence in Cameo Shores, just south of Newport Harbor, by
employing a stone facade that conveys a rich scalar texture.
The stone carries from the street and is used throughout
the interior of the house, highlighting most of the primary
architectural elements.
An over-scaled entry canopy shields one from the elements
as they pass into a luxuriant courtyard, past the pool and spa
area and eventually to the front door. The front door opens
into the Entry hall that leads visually to a dramatic view of
the Pacific Ocean directly outside.
The central body of the house extends from the courtyard
through the Living Room and to the rear patio which
extends the full width of the house. The open Kitchen and
Dining Room share the view along the western edge of the
house while the Master Bedroom sits along the eastern
edge to capture the morning light.
A list of highly refined materials accentuates the
contemporary feeling of the house, with the extensive use
of warm tones and polished edges.
