MICHAEL MARQUEZ ARCHITECTS

Located on a beautiful site in Eagle's Nest and surrounded by
a natural setting of cascading boulders and towering trees,
this new three bedroom / three bathroom cabin serves as a
full-time residence for a retired couple and their children
and grand children. The design incorporates a double height
entry, which penetrates the entire house and acts as the
central circulation spine, combing two separate geometries
generated by the converging side property lines.
The Great Room dominates the focus of the first floor and
visually links the spacious Kitchen, Dining Room and a
comfortable Conversation Area. The Master Bedroom Suite
on the ground floor, extends from the front of the house to
the rear along the western edge of the house. The second
floor contains the other bedrooms and bathrooms serving
the rest of the family and their guests.
The striking interior architectural elements, such as the
stone columns, two story glass walls, clerestory windows and
expansive volume spaces allow the ever changing natural
light to fill the residence throughout the day, providing a
dramatic theatrical setting.
