MICHAEL MARQUEZ ARCHITECTS

A 45,000 SF adaptive re-use project located in the heart of
West Hollywood on Santa Monica Boulevard near San
Vicente Boulevard. The program is comprised of retail space,
restaurants, a dental office, and a nightclub. The facade
engages the street in a dynamic manner, which breaks away
from the typical flat facades abutting to public right-of-ways,
which are all too common in the area. Each of the individual
users were addressed as a singular element and provided a
unique identity.
Alex Gentile, as Project Architect, utilized a delicate mixture
of Classical and Contemporary vocabulary to emphasize the
separate massing of the façade, and created a playful
business attitude. As a reflection of the Tuscan style, a
passage way was created to provide access to a large open
courtyard at the rear of the property, which is defined by a
series of ionic columns and lintels overhead. The courtyard, a
key element of the project, will be the location of an Italian
restaurant featuring an open garden area for alfresco dining.
