This comfortable mountain vacation home, for a high profile
entertainment couple, is the most technologically advanced
GREEN design ever created by the office of MMA. The
residence features both passive and active solar heating /
cooling systems, as well as hydro-electric power generated
from a near by running stream.
The home is designed to contain over 50% of recycled lumber and utilizes an advanced, light-weight structural steel system for lateral support. The structural design also allows for a maximum amount of openings to capture the breath-taking, secluded forest views and the dual glazed windows protect against unnecessary heat loss and gain. Rain water from the roof and the deck is captured and reused for non-potable irrigation and waste circulation.
This was the first major commission for the very young and very talented, William M. Marquez. It promises to be the first of many, in a long line of outstanding designs from this future star.
