MICHAEL MARQUEZ ARCHITECTS

As part of our giving back to the community, MMA had the
pleasure of designing the new playground for the Warner
Avenue Elementary School in Little Holmby Hills. At the
urging of several parents and faculty, we decided to assist
LAUSD with the remodeling project. As the project
developed, MMA created a clear plan that established the
basis for the entire remodel.
The project included all new landscaping, multiple game
courts and a running track for the kids, which encompassed
the entire playground. The original concept also called for
providing a central stage for all school assemblies and
performances. The back side of the main auditorium was
used as the location and a rendering of The City of Oz was
created to remind the children, "there's no place like
home!" Staying with the overall theme, the running track
was painted yellow for obvious reasons.
We were honored and delighted to be such an integral part
of this important project. We'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Nicky, Rachel and William Marquez were also thrilled with
their Dad's design and we're more than delighted to share it
with all of their fellow students.
